Nicosia traffic restrictions for October 28th parade
Cypriot authorities have announced extensive traffic and parking restrictions in Nicosia for October 28, 2026, to facilitate the Doxology at the Cathedral of St. Barnabas and the official national holiday parade.
Starting from midnight on October 27, parking is prohibited on several major streets and squares, including Archbishopric Square, Korai Street, Isokratous Street, Zenonos Kitieos Street, Konstantinou Palaiologou Avenue, Omirou Avenue, Vyronos Avenue, Michalaki Karaoli Street, and Evagorou Avenue. Road closures will begin at 9:00 a.m. on October 28 on Omirou Avenue (between Egypt Street and Eleftheria Square) and Vyronos Avenue (from the Museum traffic lights to the Griva Digeni junction). Further closures at 9:30 a.m. will affect the parade route, specifically Vyronos and Omirou Avenues, Michalaki Karaoli Street, and Dimostheni Severi Avenue, from the traffic lights toward Grigori Afxentiou Avenue.
Public transport routes will also be adjusted, with urban buses from Strovolos, Lakatamia, Anthoupoli, Parissinos, Engomi, Agios Dometios, and Agios Pavlos being rerouted after 9:30 a.m. Residents and visitors are advised to follow the designated parking areas provided by the police to ensure the smooth conduct of the commemorations.
