Recent series of drug trafficking arrests across Cyprus
Cypriot law enforcement has conducted a series of anti-narcotics operations across the island, leading to multiple arrests for drug possession and trafficking. On October 27, a 53-year-old man was arrested in Paphos after police seized approximately 104 grams of cocaine, which he had attempted to discard in a nearby field. He has been remanded in custody for five days.
In separate developments in Nicosia, authorities intercepted postal parcels containing illicit substances. Following the seizure of one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, a 33-year-old woman was arrested on October 28, joining a 42-year-old male suspect already in custody. Additionally, a new operation on October 29 led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man after a taxi driver was intercepted while transporting a package containing over six kilograms of cannabis.
The investigations by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) are ongoing in all cases, with authorities actively working to identify broader trafficking networks and locate additional suspects. While the taxi driver in the latest case was released, investigations continue to build evidence against those involved in the organized drug trade.
