British Bases Police in Cyprus induct new officers
On Monday, October 26, 2026, the Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) Police held a graduation ceremony at the Officers’ Mess in Episkopi, Cyprus. Seven new officers officially completed a rigorous two-year probationary training programme, formally assuming their roles as Police Constables. The event was attended by senior SBA officials, representatives from the Cyprus Police and the United Nations, as well as the officers' families.
During the ceremony, Temporary Superintendent Maria Atalioti commended the graduates for their resilience, integrity, and dedication to public service. A highlight of the event was the recognition of 28-year-old Galateia Alexandrou from Limassol, who was awarded the Baton of Honour for her exceptional performance throughout her training. In addition to the seven graduating officers, 16 new recruits were formally sworn in to begin their own probationary careers with the force. This intake continues the SBA's commitment to maintaining professional policing standards across its jurisdictions.
