Seven new officers join Sovereign Base Areas Police
Seven new police officers officially joined the Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) Police in Cyprus on Monday following the successful completion of a rigorous two-year probationary period and training program. The graduation ceremony took place at the Officers’ Mess in Episkopi and was attended by senior SBA officials, representatives from the Cyprus Police and the United Nations, and the families of the graduates.
During the event, Temporary Superintendent Maria Atalioti commended the recruits for their dedication, integrity, and resilience. The training program was designed to instill the professional standards required for modern policing within the base communities. Notably, 28-year-old Galateia Alexandrou from Limassol was awarded the Baton of Honour in recognition of her outstanding academic and operational performance during the course.
Simultaneously, 16 new recruits were sworn in during the same event, signaling an ongoing effort to strengthen law enforcement staffing within the British military territories on the island. The graduates have now been formally appointed to the rank of Police Constable, marking the culmination of their two-year service evaluation.
