Russian missile strikes hit civilian and transport infrastructure in Kyiv
On October 27, 2026, a series of Russian ballistic missile strikes targeted Kyiv, resulting in at least one fatality and ten injuries. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, at least ten missiles were fired during the attack. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that the strikes caused significant damage across the capital, including a major bridge in the southern part of the city, which serves as a critical transport axis. Infrastructure related to the subway system on the bridge was also damaged.
Additional targets included residential areas, university facilities—specifically within the campus and near Kyoto Park—and two medical facilities in the Dniprovskyi district. In the Desnianskyi district, damage was reported to a dormitory and a metro station. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, noting that rescue operations are currently underway as people remain trapped under the rubble. He warned of the threat of further strikes and called for an accelerated delivery of international air defense systems. Investigations into the exact scale of destruction are ongoing, and authorities remain on high alert for additional military activity.
