Paphos Chamber of Commerce elects new board without vote
The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBE Paphos) has confirmed its new Board of Directors without holding an election. Following the withdrawal of four candidates, the number of remaining contenders reached exactly 20, matching the number of available board positions. Director Marinos Stylianou confirmed that this decision follows Article 29(b) of the Chamber’s statutes, resulting in the automatic appointment of all 20 candidates, subject to final regulatory compliance.
Despite the cancellation of the vote scheduled for October 27, 2026, the Annual General Assembly proceeded as planned at the Attikon cultural center. During the assembly, outgoing President George Mais reviewed the 2025 performance, highlighting persistent challenges such as rising operational costs, labor shortages, and bureaucratic delays in major infrastructure projects like the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous highway and the Paphos Marina. Mais announced the end of his tenure as he prepares to run for Vice President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the December 5 elections. New leadership for the Paphos Chamber is expected to be finalized in early November.
