Nicosia to host the 14th Energy Symposium on November 24
The 14th Energy Symposium, titled 'The Major Energy Challenges and Tomorrow,' is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, from 09:00 to 17:00 at the Filoxenia Conference Center in Nicosia. The event serves as a platform to address critical energy issues currently facing Cyprus, including natural gas development, electrical interconnection, and renewable energy sources.
President Nikos Christodoulides will deliver the opening address. Other confirmed speakers and participants include President of the House of Representatives Annita Demetriou, Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michalis Damianou, and Greek Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou. The event will also feature contributions from foreign ambassadors, executives from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) and the Natural Gas Public Company (DEFA), as well as representatives from international energy corporations and academic institutions.
This symposium occurs during a pivotal period for the Cypriot economy, characterized by geopolitical pressures in the Eastern Mediterranean and concerns regarding energy security and electricity pricing. The discussions are expected to address past delays in energy infrastructure projects and evaluate strategies for the country's energy future, marking a significant effort to stabilize and advance the national energy sector.
