Cyprus honors researchers and innovators at annual awards ceremony
The Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) and the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) held a joint ceremony at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on Monday to present the 2025 Research and Innovation Awards. The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, alongside prominent figures from the political, scientific, and business sectors.
During the event, five distinguished researchers were recognized for their contributions to science and society. Professor Kostas Fantis of the University of Cyprus was awarded the Distinguished Researcher award in the category of Social and Humanities Sciences. Additionally, Dr. Anastasia Antoniou, a postdoctoral researcher at the Cyprus University of Technology, was among those honored in the Young Researcher category for her work in Physical Sciences and Engineering. The ceremony served to highlight the national commitment to fostering high-level academic research and addressing modern industrial challenges.
The awards represent the most significant event within the Cypriot research and innovation ecosystem, aiming to incentivize creative solutions and sustainable development. By recognizing excellence in these fields, the organizations seek to strengthen the country's economic growth and scientific progress.
