Digital Citizen app introduces automated document expiration notifications
Starting October 26, 2026, the Cyprus 'Digital Citizen' (Psifiakos Politis) application has implemented a new notification feature designed to assist users in managing document expiration dates. Users now automatically receive mobile alerts 30 days and 15 days prior to the expiration of documents stored in the application, as well as on the actual expiration date.
If a user has already obtained a new document, the application guides them through an automated process to integrate the updated record upon receiving an alert. Expired documents remain visible within the platform until they are manually replaced or deleted. Michalis Beis, the senior official at the Deputy Ministry of Innovation responsible for the project, confirmed that this functionality applies to all current documents within the app.
The Deputy Ministry plans to further expand the app's capabilities in the coming weeks and throughout the year. Upcoming features include the addition of residence permits for foreign nationals and tickets for sports events, which will complement the existing fan card feature. These initiatives are part of a broader goal to modernize public services and facilitate daily transactions by providing mobile access to essential documentation.
