Cyprus-China bilateral trade reaches $1.44 billion in 2025
Bilateral trade between Cyprus and China reached $1.44 billion in 2025, marking a 26% year-on-year increase. The figures were announced by Chinese Ambassador Yang Yundong during the Cyprus-China Cooperation and Entrepreneurship Forum held on Tuesday at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) in Nicosia. With these results, China has become the fourth largest trading partner of Cyprus and the third largest country of origin for its imports.
The forum, which coincided with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, focused on expanding cooperation in shipping, tourism, green energy, and digital technologies. Specific initiatives mentioned include the promotion of Cypriot agricultural products, such as halloumi, zivania, and fruit juices, within the Chinese market. Additionally, discussions highlighted potential collaborations between local authorities, building upon the September 2023 Alliance of Sister Cities.
KEVE Chairman Stavros Stavrou emphasized the necessity of converting these bilateral relations into concrete business partnerships. The forum also explored emerging opportunities for foreign companies in sectors such as artificial intelligence and robotics, with Ambassador Yang positioning Cyprus as a strategic gateway between China and the European Union.
