Cyprus-China trade reaches 1.44 billion dollars in 2025
Bilateral trade between Cyprus and China reached 1.44 billion dollars in 2025, marking a 26% annual increase. The figures were presented on Tuesday by Chinese Ambassador Yang Yundong during the Cyprus-China Cooperation and Entrepreneurship Forum held at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Nicosia. As a result of this growth, China has become Cyprus's fourth-largest trading partner and the third-largest source of its imports.
The forum focused on expanding economic ties, particularly in sectors such as shipping, tourism, green energy, digital technologies, and investments. Ambassador Yang highlighted that specific Cypriot products, including halloumi, zivania, and fruit juices, are successfully entering the Chinese market. Additionally, the discussions touched upon new collaborative initiatives, such as a planned agreement between Cypriot and Chinese tourism entities and an energy project promoted by the Municipality of Nicosia.
Chinese officials identified Cyprus as a potential bridge between China and the European Union, emphasizing significant room for further cooperation in the green economy and digital sectors. The event served as a platform to foster closer ties between the local authorities and businesses of both nations, setting the stage for future joint ventures.
