Paphos announces anniversary program marking ten years since European Capital of Culture

The Municipality of Paphos has officially announced the launch of the "Paphos 2017–2027" anniversary program, marking a decade since the city served as the European Capital of Culture. The initiative aims to reconnect the city with its cultural legacy while fostering new contemporary artistic production.

Responsibility for the design and implementation of the project has been assigned to the Paphos 2017 Ltd organization. An open call for submissions is currently active, inviting artists, creators, production companies, and cultural organizations from Cyprus and abroad to propose projects for the 2027 program. The initiative seeks to build upon the collaborative foundations established in 2017 while simultaneously fostering new synergies and reintegrating Paphos into international cultural networks. The objective is to produce a multidimensional program that both highlights the historical impact of the original title and evolves those initial institutions into modern artistic formats.

This anniversary program serves as a strategic effort to sustain the momentum generated by the 2017 designation. Future activities will focus on bridging past cultural achievements with future artistic developments, ensuring that the legacy of the European Capital of Culture continues to shape the local creative landscape throughout 2027.
