Yellow weather warning issued for heavy storms and hail
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Meteorological Service, effective until 18:00 on October 28, due to anticipated heavy storms, strong winds, and hail. The alert covers the entire region as a low-pressure system centered in the Aegean moves southeast, bringing unstable conditions and a noticeable temperature drop.
Throughout the day, the weather is expected to be cloudy with local rains and isolated thunderstorms, starting in the western part of the island before spreading across other areas. Winds will primarily blow from the southeast to the southwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, increasing to 4 to 5 Beaufort near the coast. During thunderstorms, wind gusts may reach 7 to 8 Beaufort. Temperatures are forecast to reach 25 degrees Celsius in inland, southern, and eastern areas, 23 degrees in western and northern regions, and 14 degrees in the mountains.
Authorities have released video documentation advising the public to exercise caution during these adverse conditions. Cloud cover, rain, and isolated storms are expected to persist into the night, beginning along the coast and moving inland.
