Power outages reported in Limassol and Larnaca due to severe weather
On the morning of Wednesday, October 28, 2026, severe weather conditions triggered multiple power outages across the districts of Limassol and Larnaca in Cyprus. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) confirmed that the interruptions were caused by faults in the local distribution network resulting from the adverse meteorological phenomena.
Technical crews from the EAC were immediately deployed to locate and repair the infrastructure damage. In the Larnaca district, specifically affecting the villages of Skarinou, Choirokoitia, and Ayios Theodoros, officials anticipated power restoration by 11:00 a.m. For the affected mountainous regions of Limassol, the estimated time for full supply restoration was set for 11:30 a.m. at the latest.
EAC spokesperson Christina Papadopoulou stated that technicians are actively working to resolve the outages. Residents in the impacted areas have been advised to monitor official EAC announcements for any updates regarding the progress of repair works and potential changes to the recovery timetable.
