AKEL Famagusta district committee renews leadership
The AKEL party in the Famagusta district has initiated its leadership renewal process, confirming key appointments for its provincial committee and secretariat. During recent sessions, Christos Nikolaou was re-elected as the Provincial Secretary of AKEL Famagusta, while Stefanos Christodoulou was re-confirmed as the Provincial Organizational Secretary, a position he has held since 2025.
The newly elected provincial committee consists of 42 members, including Andreas Avraam, Despo Anastasiou, Pavlos Artemi, and others. Furthermore, the provincial secretariat now includes Georgios Vasiliou, Grigoris Grigori, Panikos Ierarchis, Maria Nikolaou Lili, and Stavros Chatzigeorgiou. These internal elections follow the standard renewal cycle for party officials within the district.
Stefanos Christodoulou, aged 30, brings a background in Applied Informatics from the University of Macedonia and has been involved with the People's Movement since his student years, including active participation in PEOM and EDON. This transition marks the consolidation of the party's current administrative structure for the region, ensuring continuity as the committee transitions into its new term.
