Child collapses during national anniversary parade in Paphos
A seven-year-old boy lost consciousness and collapsed during the October 28th anniversary celebrations in Paphos on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 11:00 AM in the square in front of the City Hall while the national anthem was being played, just before the parade began. According to reports, the child had been standing on a small pillar approximately 50 centimeters high when he fainted and fell to the ground, sustaining injuries.
Three officers from the 'Z' motorcycle unit of the Paphos traffic police, who were present at the scene, immediately provided first aid to the boy. Due to the heavy congestion and road closures caused by the parade, the police assisted in coordinating the arrival of an ambulance. The parade commander was notified, and the event was temporarily delayed until the child was stabilized and transported. The officers subsequently escorted the ambulance to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital for further medical examination.
