Seven-year-old child injured during parade in Paphos
A seven-year-old boy lost consciousness and fell while attending the 28th of October national holiday parade in Paphos on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The incident occurred around 11:00 at the City Hall square during the playing of the national anthem. According to the child's father, the boy was standing on a pillar approximately 50 centimeters high when he fainted, leading to a fall and subsequent injury.
Three officers from the Z-Team of the Paphos traffic police, who were present for security duties, were alerted by citizens and provided immediate first aid. Authorities temporarily paused the parade to prioritize the child’s safety. Due to road closures and heavy crowds, the Z-Team officers escorted the ambulance to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Paphos General Hospital.
Following the medical intervention, the child received necessary care and has since been discharged, as confirmed by police reports. The prompt coordination between police and emergency responders ensured the child was transported safely despite the logistical challenges posed by the public event.
