36 nations to participate in Eurovision 2027 in Burgas
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced that 36 public broadcasters will compete in the 71st Eurovision Song Contest, which will be hosted at the Arena Burgas in Burgas, Bulgaria, by the national broadcaster BNT. This year's competition features one more participant than in 2026, with the most notable addition being Canada, representing the country through CBC/Radio-Canada following its transition to a full EBU member in July 2026. Additionally, North Macedonia returns to the stage after a four-year hiatus.
While 36 countries have confirmed their participation, including Greece and Cyprus via ERT and CyBC, 13 countries will remain outside the competition due to various political, economic, or organizational reasons. The EBU has issued a deadline of December for Spain and Slovenia to finalize their participation status, noting the complexity of their decisions. Preparations are currently underway to organize the event as the countdown toward the 71st edition officially begins.
