Cyprus prepares for the indigenous game hunting season
The hunting season for indigenous game in Cyprus is scheduled to commence this Sunday, November 1, 2026. Approximately 37,000 hunters are expected to participate in the upcoming season, which will focus on hares, partridges, and francolins. The season is set to conclude on December 27, 2026, comprising a total of 17 hunting days, specifically every Sunday and Wednesday.
To support the game population, the Game and Fauna Service, in collaboration with local hunting associations, has released approximately 75,000 partridges and 200 hares into the natural environment. Spokesperson Petros Anagiotou emphasized the importance of these efforts for the season's outlook. The Cyprus Federation of Hunting and Wildlife Conservation has issued strict guidelines for participants, stressing the necessity of safety protocols, respect for private property, and agricultural land.
Hunters are mandated to comply with established harvest limits and are encouraged to register their catch through the Artemis Cy mobile application. Authorities have underlined the importance of environmental protection and fire prevention during these excursions. Participants are advised to review the official regulations provided by the Federation to ensure full compliance throughout the duration of the 17-day period.
