AEL FC protests against KOP disciplinary actions while preparing for Omonia clash
AEL Limassol spokesperson Nikolas Leventis has publicly criticized the Cyprus Football Association (KOP) for its disciplinary proceedings. Leventis described the recent expedited trial process as one of the largest scandals of the current administration, arguing that the committee's actions undermine the integrity of the league and disrupt the club's planning. The club has submitted a formal letter requesting clarification on why standard procedures were bypassed, noting that they are still awaiting the justification for a previous decision regarding the Cafu case 24 days after the ruling.
Simultaneously, AEL is preparing for its 8th round Cyprus League match against Omonia at GSP Stadium on October 31. The team faces significant roster challenges, with coach Hugo Martins confirming that Denswil, Szoke, Peti, Cafu, Gomis, Catakovic, and Karamanis are unavailable. Denswil is expected to be sidelined for a month due to a second-degree muscle strain. Despite a difficult record at GSP, AEL aims to recover from their recent defeat to Aris and secure a positive result against an Omonia side that is currently defending a 31-game unbeaten home streak.
