Omonia secures victory against AEL in Cyprus League 8th round

On October 31, 2026, Omonia hosted AEL at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia for the 8th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan. Omonia, looking to bounce back from a winless streak of three matches and a recent loss to AEK, secured a decisive victory, having effectively sealed the result by halftime. The win allowed Omonia to stabilize their position in the standings.

Heading into the match, AEL manager Hugo Martins faced several squad absences, including Gomis, Cafu, and others, leading to a revamped starting lineup that featured Kapino, Conceicao, and Jovetic. Despite their efforts to exploit Omonia's tactical setup, AEL could not overcome the hosts. Omonia, managed by Henning Berg, relied on their strong home record, maintaining an impressive unbeaten streak in league matches at the GSP Stadium.

Elsewhere in the 8th round, AEK Larnaca stumbled in an away match against Krasava ENY, while the encounter between Apollon and Pafos ended in a draw, keeping the league table highly competitive as teams continue their pursuit of the title.
