Maccabi Tel Aviv secures Spyros Kyprianou arena for EuroLeague home games
EuroLeague has officially approved Maccabi Tel Aviv to host its home matches at the Spyros Kyprianou arena in Limassol, Cyprus, due to the ongoing security situation in Israel. The team is scheduled to play 10 to 12 games in Cyprus, beginning with a debut match against Hapoel Tel Aviv on November 12, followed by games against Olympiacos on November 17 and Dubai Basketball on November 19. If the current security conditions persist, the schedule will continue through early 2027, including a game against Panathinaikos on January 7.
The logistical plan for these matches includes allocating 3,000 tickets to Maccabi supporters, 1,500 to the local Cypriot public, and 100 for visiting team fans. Cypriot authorities are currently coordinating with team representatives to ensure security, including the implementation of specialized access controls and potential police escorts for the team. While the team remains hopeful for a return to its home ground in Israel, the current agreement marks a long-term commitment to the Limassol venue. Official final arrangements regarding spectator access and security protocols are still being finalized by the police and the club.
