Maccabi Tel Aviv to play EuroLeague home games in Limassol
Maccabi Tel Aviv has received approval to play its EuroLeague home games at the Spyros Kyprianou arena in Limassol, Cyprus, due to the ongoing security situation in Israel. The team is scheduled to debut at the venue on November 12, 2026, in a derby against Hapoel Tel Aviv, followed by a high-profile match against European champions Olympiacos on November 17.
The logistical plan for these matches allocates 3,000 tickets for Maccabi supporters, 1,500 for the local Cypriot public, and 100 for fans of the visiting team. While the move is confirmed, officials note that final scheduling and administrative arrangements are still being finalized. Furthermore, the club continues to explore options with the EuroLeague to return to its home venue in Israel if conditions improve.
Looking ahead, if the current security arrangement remains unchanged, additional major fixtures will take place in Cyprus, including a match against Panathinaikos scheduled for January 7, 2027. The club maintains a full schedule of home games at the Limassol facility, extending into early 2027 with matchups against teams such as Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Red Star Belgrade.
