Olympiacos Nicosia celebrates 95 years with government and football association support

Olympiacos Nicosia held a commemorative event at the Hilton Nicosia hotel on October 29, 2026, to mark the 95th anniversary of the club's founding in 1931. The event, held under the motto "Our history, our strength," honored the club's long-standing contribution to Cypriot sports, social life, and historical struggles, including its role during the EOKA era and the 1974 conflict.

President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides attended the ceremony alongside other ministers and announced a state contribution of 95,000 euros to support the club’s development, particularly its youth academies. Additionally, the President of the Cyprus Football Association (KOP), Charis Loizidis, pledged further support for the renovation of the club's stadium in Promachonas. Club president Petros Savva opened the event, reflecting on the club's journey through successes and challenges over nearly a century.

The celebration signifies the club's ongoing commitment to its legacy as it approaches its centenary. The financial support provided by the state and the KOP aims to stabilize the historic organization’s operations and bolster its future athletic initiatives, ensuring the continuation of its role in Cypriot society and football.
