AC Milan and Inter announce new Generali Stadium
AC Milan and Inter Milan have officially unveiled plans for a new state-of-the-art stadium in Milan, set to replace the historic San Siro, also known as Giuseppe Meazza. The project, presented at the Sforza Castle, is expected to open for the 2031/32 season. The new facility will be named “Generali Stadium” as part of a sponsorship agreement that will provide significant revenue for both clubs.
The project is designed by British architect Norman Foster in collaboration with sports facility specialist David Manica. The architecture features large concrete arches and an extensive white roof. A key design priority is spectator proximity to the pitch, with stands behind the goals featuring a steep 37-degree incline, optimized for fans of both teams. The structural geometry is lower in the center and higher at the ends to improve viewing conditions.
This development marks a significant transition for the two clubs, moving away from their traditional home. The initiative serves as a major infrastructure project for the city, intended to serve as a new landmark in Milan.
