Karmiotissa secures first win of the season against Olympiakos

Karmiotissa secured its first victory of the 2026-2027 season on October 30, 2026, defeating Olympiakos 1-0 in the opening match of the 8th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan at Stelios Kyriakidis Stadium. The decisive goal was scored by Alistair Reynolds in the 9th minute. Despite Olympiakos controlling the match with 71% possession and creating more opportunities, including a strike against the post by Prokop in the 30th minute, they remained winless and are now the only team in the league without a victory.

The game featured significant officiating interventions, as referee Ioannis Christodoulou awarded two penalties in the first half—one for each side—both of which were overturned following VAR review. Following the result, Karmiotissa coach Alexis Garpozis admitted that his team’s performance was not ideal and acknowledged that Olympiakos was the better side. Nevertheless, the result allowed Karmiotissa to climb from the bottom of the standings to reach 6 points.

Looking ahead, Karmiotissa is scheduled to face Ermis Aradippou in the first round of the Cypriot Cup on November 2, 2026. Meanwhile, Olympiakos faces a difficult upcoming fixture against Apollon on November 7, 2026, at GSP Stadium, as they continue their search for their first league win.
