Trial set for 44-year-old man accused of sexual offences against mother-in-law
A 44-year-old Greek Cypriot man appeared before the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court on October 29, 2026, to face seven criminal charges, including attempted rape, sexual abuse, and psychological violence against his 58-year-old mother-in-law. The defendant pleaded not guilty to all allegations during the closed-door hearing and has been released under restrictive conditions until his trial, which is scheduled to commence in February 2027.
The case originated from a complaint filed with the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department regarding an incident that occurred on July 11, 2026, when the suspect allegedly entered the victim's home. The victim told investigators that this was not an isolated event and that the suspect had previously pressured her for sexual contact. A critical piece of evidence in the case is a recording of the incident captured by a third party, which prosecutors intend to present during the upcoming proceedings.
