Leapmotor expands European presence through Stellantis partnership

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor is accelerating its expansion into the European market, aiming to democratize advanced automotive technology. Founded in 2015, the company focuses on developing sophisticated electric systems and software while maintaining competitive pricing to ensure modern features remain accessible to a broader consumer base.

The brand's European growth is significantly bolstered by a strategic partnership with the automotive giant Stellantis. Established in 2023, the joint venture, named Leapmotor International, consists of a 51 percent ownership stake by Stellantis and 49 percent by Leapmotor. This collaboration provides the Chinese manufacturer with critical access to an established European sales and after-sales support infrastructure.

By leveraging this extensive network, Leapmotor intends to overcome the market challenges faced by newer, less-familiar automotive brands. The company aims to position itself as a major player in the evolving landscape of sustainable mobility, focusing on integrating digital features and high-tech components into affordable vehicle models.
