The data highlights that the combined debt of households and non-financial corporations reached €61.7 billion by the end of the second quarter.
Specifically, household debt amounted to €20 billion, representing 53% of the GDP. This figure reflects a marginal quarterly decrease and a significant 65% reduction compared to December 2016 levels. Meanwhile, the debt of non-financial corporations stood at €41.7 billion. The report also provides a breakdown of financial assets, noting that households held €67.1 billion in assets, primarily in cash and deposits (54%), shares (25%), and other instruments. Non-financial corporations reported assets totaling €77.9 billion, largely distributed among shares (37%), cash and deposits (24%), and other financial elements (33%).
