Cyprus prepares for the opening of the hunting season
As the hunting season in Cyprus approaches, hunting supply stores across the island report a significant surge in activity. Hunters are currently finalizing their preparations and equipment purchases, with industry experts noting an atmosphere of excitement that characterizes the period immediately preceding the start of the season.
Georgia Konstantinidou, a trap shooting champion and the only female gun merchant in Cyprus, highlighted the positive impact of recent weather conditions. She noted that beneficial rainfall has enriched the local environment, significantly improving water and food resources for wildlife, which is expected to support a successful hunting period. Despite the growth in the industry, Konstantinidou also pointed to ongoing challenges, including increased operational costs and the persistence of traditional gender stereotypes within the firearm and hunting community.
Preparations remain in their final stages as the community anticipates the official start of the excursions. The industry maintains a high level of activity as enthusiasts gather necessary supplies to ensure they are ready for the opening day.
