43-year-old man arrested for the premeditated murder of 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva

Limassol police have reclassified the disappearance of 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva as a premeditated murder investigation. Vasilieva was reported missing on October 28, though she had not been seen at her home in Limassol since October 23. Following an investigation and the gathering of new evidence, authorities determined that criminal activity was behind the woman's disappearance.

As a direct consequence of the gathered testimony, police issued an arrest warrant for a 43-year-old Syrian national. The suspect was apprehended on the night of October 30 on charges of abduction and premeditated murder. He was brought before the Limassol District Court on October 31 to face proceedings for a detention order to facilitate further investigations.

The police continue their inquiries to determine the full circumstances of the case and the current whereabouts of the victim. The investigation remains active as authorities process the evidence against the suspect currently in custody.
