Limassol police investigate murder in disappearance of Olga Vasilieva
Limassol authorities are treating the disappearance of 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva as a case of premeditated murder. Vasilieva, a resident of Mesa Geitonia, was last seen on October 23, 2026, but her absence was not reported to the police until October 28. Investigators have since concluded that she likely fell victim to a criminal act.
On October 30, police arrested a 43-year-old Syrian man in connection with the case. The suspect, who reportedly had a relationship with the victim, was intercepted by authorities at Larnaca Airport as he attempted to depart from Cyprus. While the suspect has not confessed and has allegedly provided contradictory statements, police have successfully located the victim's white Toyota RAV4.
The 43-year-old is scheduled to appear before the Limassol District Court on October 31, where the prosecution will request a remand order to facilitate further investigation. The police continue their search for the missing woman and are examining specific areas of interest as part of their ongoing efforts to resolve the case.
