Atletico Madrid climbs to the top of La Liga after victory against Levante

Atletico Madrid moved to the top of the La Liga table on October 31, 2026, following a 2-0 away victory against Levante during the 11th round of the championship. Managed by Diego Simeone, the team extended its winning streak to seven consecutive matches, currently sitting one point ahead of Barcelona, although the Catalan side holds a game in hand.

The match at the Ciudad de Valencia stadium saw Alejandro Grimaldo open the scoring in the 36th minute. Despite an early goal in the 16th minute being disallowed for offside, Atletico maintained control throughout the encounter. Giuliano Simeone sealed the win in the 62nd minute, assisted by Baena, ensuring the three points remained with the visitors.

This triumph marks a significant milestone in Atletico's current season, reflecting their strong form as they challenge for the league title. While the team now holds the provisional top spot, the final standings for the current matchday remain subject to the results of ongoing fixtures, with Barcelona retaining the opportunity to reclaim the lead depending on their performance in their upcoming match.
