Iranian negotiators and Qatari mediators discuss conflict resolution in Doha
Iranian officials have concluded a third consecutive day of talks with Qatari mediators in Doha, aiming to negotiate an end to the eight-month war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. The diplomatic efforts are occurring against a backdrop of regional instability, characterized by disruptions to global oil supplies and fears of a renewed escalation following the United States midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
President Donald Trump stated that no new military actions against Iran will occur before the elections, characterizing the ongoing talks as productive. However, he has not ruled out future military strikes. In response to potential threats, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, ordered the armed forces to heighten their defensive readiness. Iranian officials have warned that any renewed attacks against their country will be met with retaliation against US and Israeli targets in neighboring nations. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed that while the administration prefers a diplomatic solution, a final decision regarding further strikes remains pending.
