Nine killed in private jet crash in Florida
On Sunday, November 1, 2026, a Learjet 60 private aircraft crashed into a residential area of Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all nine people on board. The jet, which had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas, was en route to the Bahamas when the crew reported severe turbulence and ice accumulation. Audio communications captured the pilot and 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha expressing alarm as the aircraft experienced a rapid and uncontrolled loss of altitude, plunging over 20,000 feet per minute before impacting the ground and erupting into a massive fireball. The crash site near the Military Trail damaged power lines and trees, resulting in the evacuation of approximately 600 local residents from a nearby mobile home park.
The victims included 44-year-old software executive Adam Robinson, his wife Helen, their two young daughters, their nanny Anita Maria Apellido Cetina, two family friends, Charmi Fehr and Rachael Reed, co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha, and pilot Jeff Gregory. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the fatalities, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis noted that no casualties were reported on the ground despite the violent impact. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently conducting a joint investigation into the disaster. Recovery teams are working to retrieve flight recorders and wreckage from a deep crater formed at the impact site, with a preliminary report expected within a month.
