Two men arrested in Limassol following dangerous wedding stunt at roundabout
On the evening of Saturday, October 31, 2026, a wedding procession caused a significant disturbance at the Ayios Athanasios (Linopetra) roundabout in Limassol. A viral social media video, captioned “Just Married,” showed a driver performing dangerous drifting maneuvers in a racing car while other vehicles, including tow trucks, blocked the roundabout exits to prevent traffic flow. The event also included the firing of fireworks, and at least one person was seen standing on the roadway during the performance.
The Cyprus police launched an investigation after the footage circulated online, drawing sharp criticism and a stern response from the Ministry of Justice, which emphasized that public roads are not racing circuits and that no one is above the law. Officers from the Limassol traffic department identified the individuals involved, leading to the arrest of a 28-year-old driver and a 36-year-old man, identified as the groom. The suspects face charges including reckless driving, obstructing traffic, and unauthorized blocking of a public road.
Both men were held in custody and were scheduled to appear before the Limassol District Court on Tuesday for a remand hearing. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly acknowledged the severity of their actions. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities continuing to search for the racing car used in the stunt and not ruling out further arrests.
