Two men remanded following illegal wedding drift stunt in Limassol
On October 31, 2026, a 36-year-old groom and his 28-year-old best man organized a dangerous drifting event at the Linopetra roundabout in Limassol. According to police, the suspects blocked traffic using tow trucks and other vehicles while the best man performed maneuvers with a racing car during the post-wedding celebration. The incident gained widespread attention after a video titled 'Just Married' was posted on social media, showing the car drifting as flares were ignited.
Following the publication of the video, Limassol traffic police arrested the two men. During questioning, they admitted their involvement, with the groom claiming they did not initially realize the severity of their actions. The Limassol District Court ordered their two-day detention. A major point of contention remains the vehicle used; the groom presented a stripped-down car chassis to the authorities, which police believe is not the actual vehicle featured in the footage, as it lacked essential components like an engine, steering wheel, and tires.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to locate the original racing car and identify other participants, including the drivers of the tow trucks involved in the road blockade. The suspects face multiple charges, including negligent and reckless driving, obstruction of traffic, and blocking public roads. The men are expected to be released as their remand period expires while the police inquiry proceeds.
