Ministry of Transport announces new road works and updates on Paphos-Polis highway
On November 2, 2026, the Cypriot Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announced the launch of two new road infrastructure projects in Agia Fyla and the Pyrgos Limassol area. These projects, with a combined estimated cost of €347,741 excluding VAT, aim to improve road safety and network connectivity. The Agia Fyla project, valued at €184,150, involves the reconstruction and connection of Idomeneos Street with 1st April Avenue and Sfaktirias Street. The second project concerns the widening of the junction at the Parekklisia area leading to the Pyrgos community. Tenders for these works are open until November 18, 2026, with construction planned for the first quarter of 2027 and an estimated three-month duration per project.
Separately, Minister Evi Tsolaki confirmed that the government plans to tender both phases of the Paphos to Polis Chrysochous highway project in the first half of 2027. This major infrastructure development will feature a four-lane road design. The Minister stated that existing land expropriations are sufficient, eliminating the need for additional procedures. Current efforts are focused on coordinating with utility services to finalize the design for the additional lanes, addressing a long-standing regional connectivity requirement.
