Police investigate Limassol Halloween party after teenage hospitalizations
On the night of Saturday, October 31, a Halloween party held at a popular coastal venue in Limassol resulted in the hospitalization of 13 teenagers, aged 15 to 17, due to severe alcohol consumption. Witnesses and parents reported that the event organizers had initially provided false information regarding the venue location and assured them that no alcohol would be served. Most of the teenagers received medical treatment and were discharged by Monday, but one 16-year-old boy remains at the Makarios Hospital in Nicosia suffering from a skull fracture, reportedly sustained after a fall during the event.
The Limassol CID has launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event. Investigators have identified the main organizer and are planning to charge them, while the venue owner is also expected to be called for questioning. Authorities are examining potential criminal offenses, including the illegal admission of minors to a nightclub and the illegal sale or provision of alcohol to underage individuals. Investigators are also evaluating reports that some attendees purchased vodka themselves. Further statements from parents, students, and other witnesses are currently being collected as the police continue to piece together the events of that night.
