Cyprus Consumers Association reports market price trends for October 2026
On October 31, 2026, the Cyprus Consumers Association released an analysis of price trends across supermarkets participating in the e-kalathi platform. The research compared data from the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry’s official platform and the private smart kalathi application to provide transparency regarding retail price fluctuations during the month of October.
The findings indicate that price reductions outnumbered increases, with 35 products seeing price drops between 5% and 12.3%, and 17 products experiencing price hikes between 5% and 15.31%. Items with significant price increases included ravioli, fruit juices, wet wipes, flour, and household cleaning products. Conversely, notable price decreases were observed in cheese, chocolate, pasta, coffee, and baby food. The association specifically noted that the reductions in coffee and baby food prices are linked to the zero VAT rate policy implemented on October 12, 2026.
While the market saw mixed trends, the data suggests that there was no universal increase in the cost of the 476 monitored products. The association continues to utilize data from the e-kalathi system to monitor consumer costs, providing ongoing tracking of market inflation and the impact of government fiscal policies.
