Cyprus negotiator briefs ministry officials on status of peace talks
On October 29, 2026, the Greek Cypriot negotiator, Menelaos Menelaou, served as the keynote speaker at a seminar regarding the progress of negotiations on the Cyprus problem. Held at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC), the event was organized by the Academy of Security and Defense to provide updates on the current situation to over 70 personnel from the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard.
The seminar, titled "The Course of Negotiations on the Cyprus Problem – Current Situation," was part of the Academy’s ongoing efforts to ensure the continuous education and professional development of staff. During the session, Menelaou addressed the participants on the complexities of the current status of the Cyprus talks.
Due to the significant interest generated among ministry officials, the Ministry of Defense announced that the seminar will be repeated during the first half of 2027. This initiative underscores the importance of keeping state defense personnel fully informed about the diplomatic processes and political developments surrounding the Cyprus issue.
