Cyprus Police conduct island-wide operations and arrest multiple suspects
Cypriot police carried out coordinated island-wide operations on the nights of November 3 and 4, 2026, targeting crime prevention and public order. During these patrols, authorities stopped 694 vehicles and checked 925 individuals on the most recent night. These efforts resulted in five arrests for various offenses, including conspiracy to commit a felony, burglary, theft, possession of stolen property, reckless driving, driving under the influence, vehicle theft, and illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus.
In addition to the arrests, police conducted 269 traffic enforcement reports, with 111 cases involving speeding. Authorities also inspected 27 premises to counter delinquency. In a specific incident in Tala on November 4, officers arrested a 37-year-old man who attempted to flee after being found near a stolen vehicle. During his apprehension, officers fired warning shots, and it was later discovered he was driving without insurance or a valid registration and had tested positive for alcohol. Law enforcement continues to monitor urban areas to maintain public safety.
