Cyprus police conduct nationwide crime prevention operations
Cyprus police conducted extensive, nationwide preventative operations over two consecutive nights in early November 2026, aimed at maintaining public order and preventing criminal activity. These operations involved intensive patrols in key urban areas and checks on hundreds of vehicles and establishments.
The operations resulted in the arrest of 19 individuals in total across the two reports. Charges include theft, illegal residence, drug possession, burglary, dangerous driving, and possession of stolen property. During the interventions, authorities stopped over 1,100 vehicles and checked nearly 1,500 people. Officers also conducted inspections of 61 establishments, performed over 200 alcohol tests, and issued hundreds of traffic citations, including over 290 fines for speeding. A total of 13 vehicles were impounded during the enforcement period, and two individuals tested positive for drugs.
These actions were part of a broader strategy to enhance public security and curb delinquency. The authorities utilized both standard patrols and targeted traffic enforcement to achieve these objectives. The operations are reported as part of routine police efforts to address rising concerns regarding public safety, with investigations into the cited offenses ongoing.
