Cyprus student grant application period for 2025/2026 opens

The Cyprus Ministry of Finance's Grants and Benefits Service has announced the commencement of the application process for student grants for the 2025/2026 academic year. The online platform will be accessible from Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 10:00, until Monday, November 30, 2026, at 14:00. Applications must be submitted exclusively via the official portal at https://sg-yxe.mof.gov.cy by parents or legal guardians using a verified CY Login account.

Eligibility is restricted to two categories: families of Greek students who studied at an academic institution in Cyprus while maintaining permanent residency in Greece, and repatriated Cypriot families whose students attended institutions either in Cyprus or abroad during the same academic year. Repatriated applicants are required to verify their accounts via e-banking, video call, or in-person at a Citizen Service Centre.

Separately, the government has approved a significant adjustment to student financial support, increasing the airfare allowance for students studying abroad from €300 to €500. This decision, aimed at mitigating the impact of the ongoing energy crisis, is part of a broader framework of student support that also encompasses living and meal allowances. All applicants are expected to follow the prescribed digital procedures within the defined deadlines, as late submissions will not be accepted.
