Nea Salamina coach Angel Lopez under pressure ahead of Omonia Aradippou match

Nea Salamina faces a critical moment in the Cypriot league following a disappointing 0-1 defeat to Omonia 29th of May. With only five points collected in eight matches, the club’s management has expressed significant concern regarding both the team's performance and its current low position in the standings. Following the loss, the club's administration held a meeting with coach Angel Lopez to address the team's struggles, including a failure to score in the last two consecutive games.

Despite the frustration, the board has granted the 44-year-old Spanish coach one final opportunity to stabilize the team. The upcoming match against Omonia Aradippou on November 6th, 2026, at 19:00, is now regarded as a decisive encounter. Club spokesperson Loizos Moiseos emphasized that while there is still confidence in the roster's quality, immediate improvement is required. Local reports indicate that should the team fail to secure a victory in this fixture, further changes concerning the coaching staff may follow. The manager is expected to shuffle the starting lineup, potentially incorporating players who have seen limited action thus far to spark a necessary reaction.
