Series of bomb threats disrupt European air travel
On November 3, 2026, European authorities responded to a series of bomb threats targeting multiple passenger aircraft. At least four flights were diverted or forced to land following security alerts: a flight from London Heathrow to Warsaw landed safely at Modlin Airport with 181 people on board, while a SAS flight from Copenhagen to Warsaw was diverted to Lublin. Additional security incidents were reported on a flight from Israel to Sofia and another flight heading toward Murcia, Spain. A similar incident occurred on November 2, when a Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia was forced to land in Budapest under the escort of Hungarian fighter jets.
All affected aircraft landed safely, and security services conducted thorough inspections in each case. While initial assessments by authorities suggest these threats may not be credible, the coordinated nature of the incidents across several countries has prompted heightened security measures. Investigations are currently ongoing at the various airports involved to verify the claims and identify the sources of the alerts. No explosive devices have been confirmed to date, and airport operations faced temporary disruptions as part of standard emergency protocols.
