Investigation into alleged illegal property exploitation in occupied territories closed
Authorities in Cyprus have officially closed an investigation into allegations involving a Greek Cypriot real estate agency accused of illegal exploitation of properties located in the occupied territories. The Police Headquarters, following a review of all evidentiary material by the Legal Service, concluded that there was a complete lack of testimony or documentation to justify criminal prosecution.
The case, which originated from a complaint made public by the Real Estate Agents Registration Council in May 2025, had prompted concerns regarding the involvement of real estate businesses in illicit activities. The Cyprus Real Estate Agents Association (SEKEK), affiliated with the CCCI, announced the decision on November 3, 2026. The association stated that the extensive media coverage surrounding the allegations had negatively impacted the reputation of specific firms and the industry as a whole.
Following the closure of the investigation, SEKEK has called upon the media and news websites to update their previous reports and publicize the outcome of the inquiry. The association maintains that the lack of evidence confirms the groundlessness of the accusations, effectively ending the legal process concerning these specific claims.
