Citroën unveils design process for the new 2 CV concept
Citroën has released the initial sketches and design plans for its 2 CV Concept, a modern reinterpretation of the iconic vehicle that debuted at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The design team, led by Pierre Leclercq, spent nearly a year developing the project with the goal of blending the heritage of the legendary original model with contemporary automotive standards.
The primary challenge for the designers was to maintain the historic aesthetic while integrating modern functionality. Key design features preserved in the new concept include the signature round headlights, the sculpted hood, and the characteristic arched roofline. Leclercq noted that reviving such a significant cultural icon carries substantial professional responsibility.
The original 2 CV remains a pillar of French automotive history and a globally recognized symbol. This modern concept aims to evoke the emotional connection associated with the original car while adhering to current design requirements and market expectations.
