Security alert on cruise ship Crown Iris in Syros
Greek authorities launched a security operation at the port of Syros on November 3, 2026, following a bomb threat against the Panama-flagged cruise ship Crown Iris. The vessel, which is Israeli-operated, was scheduled to depart for Haifa before the alert was raised.
The ship is carrying a total of 1,537 individuals, comprised of 940 passengers and 597 crew members. Following the report of a potential explosive device hidden on the hull, the Hellenic Coast Guard deployed specialized units to conduct a thorough search. Operations currently involve a canine unit, a private diver inspecting the underwater sections of the hull, and an arriving team from the Underwater Missions Unit (MYA) to provide additional security.
As of the latest reports, no suspicious items or devices have been found during the ongoing inspection of the vessel’s interior and exterior. Authorities continue to scrutinize the ship to ensure the safety of those on board before allowing the cruise liner to proceed with its voyage to Israel.
