Cyprus weather forecast: Yellow warning issued for intense storms and hail
Weak low pressure currently affecting Cyprus has led the Meteorological Department to issue a yellow weather warning for Friday, November 6, 2026. The alert, in effect from 13:00 to 17:00, anticipates isolated strong thunderstorms, particularly impacting mountainous areas, as well as the southern and eastern parts of the island. Officials report that rainfall intensity could reach 35 to 50 millimeters per hour, with potential risks of hail and gusty, shifting winds.
Meteorological spokesperson Andreas Chrysanthou noted that these conditions are expected to be more intense than those seen earlier in the week. By Saturday, weather activity should significantly decrease, with isolated showers expected primarily in the Troodos region and southeastern areas. By Sunday, the weather is projected to become mostly clear as the low-pressure system moves away. Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution during the peak of the storms, as the island transitions toward cooler temperatures and a more stable, winter-like environment.
